Lecturer Jarah Moesch named a United States Artist Fellow in Media

Congratulations to lecturer Jarah Moesch (STS) who has been named as a United States Artist Fellow in Media in the 2022 cohort of United States Artists (USA). The award honors their creative accomplishments and supports their ongoing artistic and professional development. With sixty-three artists across ten creative disciplines, the 2022 USA Fellows class is the largest in the organization’s sixteen-year history.

Announcing the 2021-22 Rensselaer Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner!

Congratulations to Sarah Shiang (Senior majoring in Economics and STS) who was selected unanimously by a panel of music faculty judges as the winner of the 2021-22 Rensselaer Orchestra Concerto Competition. Sarah will perform The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan-Williams with the Rensselaer Orchestra at the April 14th Spring Concert in EMPAC. While at RPI, Sarah has performed in the Rensselaer Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles, including performances of the Mendelssohn Octet, Amy Beach Piano Quintet, and the Grieg String Quartet.

2022 RPI Student Film Festival is Open for Submissions

Calling all film enthusiasts to submit your films to the RPI student Film Festival. Students are welcome to submit entries in a number of categories with the opportunity to win prizes. UPAC Cinema is hosting the film festival in association with the Arts Department. Films will screen at UPAC Cinema at the end of the semester. Submissions open until March 1, 2022.

Monthly Game Jam

Do you want to create a video game during the weekend? Professor Payen in conjunction with the Game Dev Club will host the first RPI monthly Game Jam: Friday, February 25th (6pm) to Sunday, February 27th in VAST! A Game Jam is a contest where participants make a game from scratch in a limited time (48h).

You are encouraged to jam with others whom you may not have even worked with before. Beginners are highly welcome (and faculty too), including those who may have never participated in a Game Jam before.
