Announcing the 2021-22 Rensselaer Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner!

Congratulations to Sarah Shiang (Senior majoring in Economics and STS) who was selected unanimously by a panel of music faculty judges as the winner of the 2021-22 Rensselaer Orchestra Concerto Competition. Sarah will perform The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan-Williams with the Rensselaer Orchestra at the April 14th Spring Concert in EMPAC. While at RPI, Sarah has performed in the Rensselaer Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles, including performances of the Mendelssohn Octet, Amy Beach Piano Quintet, and the Grieg String Quartet. In 2019, Sarah performed the Bruch Violin Concerto as a soloist with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and accompanied singer Josh Groban. Sarah has performed in masterclasses with Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist Mitchell Newman and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra violinist Carrie Kennedy.
