Biography: Sophia is a PhD student, elementary teacher, history nerd, and ed-tech experimenter. In 2021, she began building a digital history map called “My Hudson History” to teach local history to students in New York’s Hudson Valley. In 2024, she was awarded a grant from the RPI-IBM Artificial Intelligence Research Collaboration to pilot a 2025 hybrid program teaching 7th-9th grade girls quantum computing. Sophia loves studying how technologies can engage learners and improve education. In 2022, Sophia graduated from SUNY New Paltz with her teaching degree and received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. In 2024, she earned an M.A. in Computing in Education from Columbia University.
