Biography
My first game was New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DSi. I loved and played that and many other DS games all the time, but I could never expect that it'd be what I'd study in university. Now while I have less time to play games, I have been able to meet many interesting people from all over and work with them to create interesting games. Going into senior year, I wanted to take what I had already learned in my undergraduate studies to do something I thought matters, and while it took some time, I ultimately decided to focus on decolonial games. My home, Puerto Rico, has a history of colonization through the Spanish and now the United States. Through my research I hope to create games that go against the narrative of colonialism and exploitation a lot of games repeat. Additionally, I hope to use my undergraduate knowledge of game audio and music to create experimental and interesting audio systems on game platforms and beyond. I am always looking for opportunities to create games with others or to work on research.
