Langyi Ren

Portrait-style selfie of a person with long dark hair tied back, wearing clear-framed glasses, a black shirt, and a dark textured cardigan. The person is facing the camera indoors against a light beige wall. Soft natural light from the side illuminates the face and creates subtle shadows. A thin necklace chain is visible, and the image is closely cropped from the chest up. No text is visible in the image.

Biography
Langyi is a game sound designer and researcher working across audio spatialization, game audio systems, and procedural and generative audio. Langyi’s work looks at how sound is designed, engineered, and made to answer the player and the game world. Tracing sound through the histories of media and technology, Langyi approaches it as a kind of “hallucination.” This framework guides a rethinking of sonic realism, treating it as a historically produced convention rather than a natural standard for game audio.
