Biography: Joey Latka is a transdisciplinary and multimedia artist, composer, performer, and educator with a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance, Master of Fine Arts in Creative Music Technology, and is pursuing a PhD in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Latka’s creative and research practice fundamentally pulls from embodied queer onto-epistemologies which inform an experimental Queer Creative Practice. His work infuses ecological themes, quantum theories, and immersive technologies to explore resonances between the body, environment, space, and time. He has performed, composed, and exhibited work internationally, including performances with the International Contemporary Ensemble at The Walden School and a collaboration with SPLICE Ensemble, and co-founded the experimental sound collective, Physic. He is currently pursuing a Deep Listening Certification through the Center for Deep Listening and has over a decade of experience as a music educator, choral director, and musical theater director.
