Major: Games, Simulation, Arts & Sciences & Science, Technology & Society
As a Game and Simulation Arts and Sciences major I devoted the past several years to figuring out how to make the world a more joyful, more playful, space. I didn't always know how I wanted to work with games, trying my hand at programming and spending a lot of time working as writer in my courses before I started to work on games research with faculty in the GEM Department where I really found my niche. Since starting research I've continued to be a part of one project or another each year and I plan to continue in Game Studies research after graduating from Rensselaer.
Goals for after graduation: After graduation I plan to continue my education with a PhD in Game Studies!
Undergraduate Research Program: I've worked with Dr. Malazita and Dr. Mizer on different research project over the past three years. With Dr. Malazita I've helped with his research in game and platform studies, particularly focusing on the Unreal Engine. With Dr. Mizer I've worked with researching game communities and gaming in communities as an effort to both understand and to help in places where games are being played.
Arch Away Semester: For my Arch Away I combined several of our options into a Research-Internship-Abroad while I joined a couple of research projects in the Gamification Group at Tampere University, in Tampere, Finland.
