Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer position in TESOL

The Department of Communication and Media in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applicants for a non-tenure track position in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) beginning Fall 2022.

Applicants must have a PhD, EdD, or foreign degree equivalent with certification in TESOL or a closely related area at the time of appointment. Applicants should have successful ESL and Intensive English Language Program (IELP) teaching experience at the university level in the United States and experience training international teaching assistants. Experience in language proficiency assessment and graduate-level teaching is strongly preferred.

Teaching responsibilities for this position include preparing non-native English speakers for Teaching Assistant roles generally aligned with their field of study, and teaching academic writing to international students. There is the possibility of teaching additional undergraduate and graduate courses in writing and oral communication for students whose native language is English.

The position also includes helping international students in the Center for Global Communication+Design with writing and oral presentations and training tutors in the Center to work with international students. Other teaching assignments may be made as needed by the Department or the Center for Global Communication+Design.
