Lecturer / Sr. Lecturer in Music and Conducting

 

The Department of Arts in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for the position of full-time Lecturer/Sr. Lecturer in Music and Conducting. The successful candidate will conduct the Rensselaer Orchestra and Concert Choir and teach courses in Chamber Music and musicianship. Administrative duties include overseeing the private lessons program and coordinating the performance faculty to enrich the ensembles. The position begins in August 2022. The successful candidate must hold a terminal degree, doctorate preferred, or foreign degree equivalent in music and possess an emerging national reputation as a musician and conductor. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have demonstrated competence in orchestral and choral conducting, with a creative practice in contemporary fields such as music technology, composition, improvisation, telematic performance, or interactive art. 

 

The Department of Arts features an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to the musical arts with a focus on the use of experimental techniques and methodologies in artistic conception, creation, and performance. The department offers the BS degree in Music and BS, MFA, and PhD degrees in Electronic Arts. In addition, the department contributes to the nationally ranked BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Games and Simulation Arts & Sciences.
