Multiple Open-Rank Tenure Track Positions – Economics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning

The Department of Economics in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is part of the search for multiple open-rank, tenure-track positions at the intersections of Economics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) to begin Fall 2022.

Ideal candidates for an Economics-AI/ML position will be distinguished Economics scholars who are at the cutting edge of collaborative scholarship with AI/ML researchers and practitioners, as well as have the capacity to contribute to the Economics Department’s broader commitments to quantitative modeling and data analytics of economic phenomena.

The Economics Department currently has a diversity of faculty engaged in disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Some of the areas include health economics, econometrics and quantitative modeling, behavioral economics, experimental economics, economics of innovation and technology, and international economics. The Department of Economics currently offers undergraduate and M.S. degrees and is in the final stages of approval to offer a Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Policy.

The Economics research areas of interest for this Rensselaer-wide cluster hire include:

  • Econometrics, data analytics, and quantitative modeling
  • Environmental economics
  • Biotechnology and health economics

Applicants must have a Ph.D., Ed.D., or foreign degree equivalent at the time of appointment.

The application process is a rolling one, with the applicant pool being reviewed multiple times per semester. For consideration for a Fall 2022 appointment, applications should be received no later than December 1, 2021. In addition to the required components of the application listed in the hire, applicants should indicate in their cover letter how their scholarship and teaching would fit into the Economics Department.
