AI and the Organization of Social Life
What does it mean to develop a sociology of artificial intelligence (AI)? This talk will take this cue and examine the implications of AI for the organization of social life. It will consider AI as a social phenomenon that intersects with wider social, cultural, economic, material, and political conditions. Specifically, it will present novel research on the role of culture in “ethical AI”, the use of AI in recruiting, and the international AI regulation landscape. It will also discuss interdisciplinary AI auditing and AI accountability techniques alongside practice-based compliance approaches for AI organizations.
