Please join us for a lecture and panel discussion with media theorist Jussi Parikka (Aarhus University) in conversation with art historian/theorist Caroline A. Jones (MIT), architectural theorist/historian Theodora Vardouli (McGill University), architectural historian Michael Abrahamson (University of Utah), and architect Viola Ago (Toronto Metropolitan University). Jussi Parikka is an internationally renowned contemporary media theorist who writes about the cultural implications of digital imaging technologies, AI, and computer simulations. He works at the intersection of STS, game studies, art theory, and philosophy. The symposium is centered around Prof. Parikka’s recent book Operational Images (University of Minnesota Press, 2023). The event will be co-sponsored by the School of Architecture, the Center of Excellence in Digital Game Development, iEAR Presents!, and the Vollmer W. Fries Lecture Series through the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
