Please join the Communication and Media Department for a seminar titled "Empowering Communication in the Age of AI: Research, Teaching, and Leadership" from Dr. Lu Tang, Professor at the Department of Communication & Journalism, Texas A&M University and the Director of the Data Justice Lab affiliated with the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science.
In an era defined by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, communication and media scholarship play a crucial role in shaping ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible digital futures. In this talk, Dr. Lu Tang will share her research and teaching at the intersection of AI, health, and social justice.
Bio:
Dr. Lu Tang is Professor at the Department of Communication & Journalism, Texas A&M University and the Director of the Data Justice Lab affiliated with the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science. She conducts research on study how AI and data-driven technologies, including virtual reality, LLM-based chatbots, and conversational agents, can be leveraged to create social justice and combat disparities and discrimination. Her research is supported through funding from the NIH, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation.
