Pieces of "Peace and Comfort"

To help commemorate this year's Black History Month, we are featuring four pieces taken from “Peace and Comfort,” a program of music that explores the eternal human themes of adversity, resilience, hope, and overcoming from a diverse set of historical and musical perspectives. "Peace and Comfort" was a segment of the "President's Virtual Holiday Concert" performed in 2020. These featured pieces were created by Black composers, who despite the racial inequalities of their times, rose to prominent status, becoming beacons of hope to those who followed in their footsteps.

The concert is performed by the Fusion Ensemble, a group formed in the fall of 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic that includes the Orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Music Ensembles, and remote collaborators.
