Optional Portfolio for Incoming Students

Applicants have the option to submit: 

  1. A letter of intent of one to three paragraphs that describes the applicant’s interest in the major, desire to enter the program, and future goals. Relevant experience, including past coursework and projects, should be included. 
  2. A portfolio that demonstrates the applicant’s creative abilities and artistic perspective. Successful portfolios will include three to five original works such as:
    • Physical or digital works
    • Creative writing
    • Still images
    • Multimedia projects
    • Animations
    • Videos
    • Computer programming work
  3. A portfolio description sheet, either attached to the application materials document as the last page or embedded within the portfolio.
    • For each item, list: 
      • Medium 
      • Year created
      • Applicant’s role and responsibilities (for collaborative projects)
  4. Supplemental materials such as faculty references or recommendation letters

To upload a portfolio, use the online portfolio system. The system supports the following formats for each genre:

  • Images (5MB each: jpg, png, gif)
  • Videos (60MB each: mov, wmv, flv)
  • PDF (10MB each: pdf)
  • Audio (10MB each: mp3)
