An interdisicplinary team of PhD students in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science, fellows on an NSF grant under HASS Professor of Science and Technology Studies Ron Eglash, took First Place in the annual MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Research Paper Competition in March. The paper, titled From Sports to Science: Using Basketball Analytics to Broaden the Appeal of Math and Science Among Youth, "basically turned...basketball courts into DIY sports science labs," says John Drazan, PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering and the lead reasercher on the paper.
